June 2008
Dear Pastor,
I am Rachel
Tarvin, missionary to the field of Perú. I am excited to be in South
America serving among the Quechua Indians. Even though this is my first
term I feel at home since I had previously served five months in Perú.
It was a blessing to be able to start ministry here already knowing many
of the nationals, some Spanish and I being familiar with Peruvian
customs. I thank God for this experience.
I am sent through the
authority of my local church, Antioch Bible Baptist Church of Gladstone,
Missouri pastored by Bob Baier. I have been appointed to career
missionary service by Baptist Mid-Missions.
God blessed
deputation greatly. I was able to finish in about a year. After 4 months
of language school, I arrived in Peru in June 2008. I am a church
planting assistant and helping at our Seminary. I have begun learning
Quechua and planning to begin Quechua literacy work. This ministry
combines evangelism and discipleship through literacy work under the
leadership of the local Peruvian churches. The goal is to teach these
poor, rural women to teach others also, and by multiplication, have a
major impact on the souls and literacy rate of the Quechua Indians. By
evangelizing and discipling the women, their testimony may one day have
an impact even on unsaved husbands. My deepest passion is to be used of
God in the greatest way to expand the work of His Kingdom across the
world. This is my goal for the rest of my life and ministry. I want to
make a difference in the lives of people and across the world for Jesus
Christ.
Pastor, I would welcome the opportunity to present the
field of Perú to you and your church when I come home on furlough from
June 2012-13.
I have provided more information at the left. If
you have other questions, would like to be added on my prayer letter
mailing list, or would like to schedule my visit, please e-mail me at
rltarvin@att.net.
Thank you for your interest,
