My Ministry

Previous Ministry
I have been involved in children’s ministry for as long as I can remember. Little did I know that this experience would be training that I would one day use on the mission field. After my freshman year of high school, I was able to travel to Mexico on a church mission trip. This was my first chance to use my Spanish and my first real taste of Latin Culture. It was love at first sight. In High School I began working in Awana’s Sparks program, teaching Kindergarten, First, and Second graders, to memorize God’s Word. My senior year of high school, I was able to travel to northern Perú with my Spanish teacher. This was a wonderful opportunity to use Spanish and experience culture in South America. In 1999 I applied to Awana’s Missionary In Training Program. I was accepted and went with them to Dominica in 2000. From 2000-2003 I was able to serve as a Floorleader (similar to an R.A.) at Pensacola Christian. I continued serving in Awana through college. In the summer of 2001 I was blessed to be able to intern with our children’s pastor at Antioch Bible Baptist Church. In 2002 and 2003 God provided for me to live in Cusco, Perú, assisting the Tuttles with their ministry, while practicing Spanish and learning culture. It was in Perú where God confirmed “This is the place.” With this leading, I began actively seeking career missions in Perú. Upon graduating I sought council from my pastor and parents about what to do next. I was asked to teach Kindergarten at Pensacola Christian Academy in 2003. I taught kindergarten for 3 years, finishing my master’s degree in the two summers in between.  I was appointed as a career missionary with Baptist Mid-Missions on July 27, 2006. My home Church, Antioch Bible Baptist Church commissioned me as one of their missionaries on August 20, 2006.

Right Now
I completed my Spanish language training at Rio Grande Bible Institute in Edinburg Texas in May before heading off to Perú on June 3,  2008.

Planned Ministry
I plan to join the three other families presently working at the Cusco Station of Baptist Mid-Missions in Urubamba, Perú. Following the Lord’s leading I am planning toward the following ministries: church planting assistant working with children, ladies; file clerk; financial assistant; home school consultant/substitute teacher; overseer of the seminary guest house; Counselor/advisor for single female seminary students; and evangelistic outreach worker. Lord willing, I will be actively learning Quechua with the long term goal of full time work evangelizing, discipling, and teaching literacy to the Quechua women in poor rural communities.
