Dear Praying Friend,

September 2008

Since this is a prayer letter I will begin by asking you to pray that:
• God would provide my residency visa this month.
• God would continue to mold me into what He wants me to be.
• God would give wisdom in scheduling and planning.
• God would bless the visit of Amber.

I have now been in Peru for 3 months. My first (tourist) visa expired and God provided for an extension (without a trip to Lima!). Our lawyer there is now working to apply for residency. Please pray that this will be available before October 1st when the extension runs out. When the visa becomes available, or my extension runs out, I will have to leave the country. Plans are in progress to go into northern Chile to pick up my residency visa.

I am writing this letter from one of our churches, Calvary Baptist, in Cusco. Please pray for Pastor Percy, the pastor here. Satan has been attacking in many areas and it is discouraging. Pray that the Lord would strengthen him and show him His plan.

This morning, September 3rd, I came to Cusco (2 hour drive) to pick up Amber Sacramone, a teen from Camden, Ohio. She will be staying with me for the rest of the month. We will leave for Urubamba as soon as the roads are open from the current strike. The university students got upset when bus fare went up and have commandeered and sequestered 200 buses. Strikes aren’t too unusual here, we learn to work around them.

At the beginning of August, I had the privilege of going on a seminary ministry trip as a driver. Satan tried to stop us with a strike, we lost a tire, we were delayed by repairs (in the meantime I got to translate for Pequeño Pablo, a chalk artist/evangelist, in a Bible club and an open air meeting where several were saved.), narrowly avoided an accident, had to drive all night, and I almost lost my passport. BUT God protected and blessed richly. No one was hurt, God gave strength and alertness in spite of circumstances, three were saved in a church service, 7 at the local jail and 5 more at the hospital.

We serve a powerful, mighty, awesome, wonderful SAVIOR!

Sharing God's Love IN the Andes,

“Faithful is He that calleth [me], Who also will do it.” I Thessalonians 5:24
