Dear Praying Friends,
Things are going very well here in
Cuzco. We have had no excitement since the break-in, unless you count a new stove and lots of security measures.
Luciano, a man in the church is adding bars to the living room windows as I write.
He has been a huge help with the security measures.
I’m knee deep in translating the kids materials and just want to get it
done. That is a task I began on my visit in 2002. I set my laptop up on the kitchen table and try to get over to it
between starting the washer and checking on whatever’s cooking.
June 24th was Inti Rimi, a huge,
pagan sun worship festival complete with llama sacrifices and witchcraft.
Oh! how desperately they need the truth of the
Gospel. We went up to the gathering before it started and passed out about 2,000 tracts.
The entire time we only saw one tract that had been discarded on the ground (I picked it up and reused
it). People were begging for the tracts. The hill sides were covered with people.
We would have needed about 1 million tracts to cover them all.
It reminded me of Matthew 9:36 where Jesus saw the multitudes and was moved with compassion.
I know that we may never hear of fruit from this distribution but
it's comforting to know that God's Word will not return void.
Yesterday we went out to Arin, where the Tim Whatley Family is starting
a church and living. The truck battery was dry and dead and we forgot and
turned it off at the gas station. I had to push it about a quarter mile before
we got enough hill to “pop start” it. We let it run while we were at the
meeting in Arin. We drove home and turned it off and tried it again.
It started. We may have a working truck or not.
Dad is planning for me to come back one week earlier than planned.
This will give me time to rest up before heading to Pensacola.
That only leaves me two weeks. AHHHHH! Where has the summer
gone? I covet your prayers as I wrap up my last weeks of ministry here.
I sincerely desire to finish this translation project. Please pray that I will have the stick-to-it-tiveness to
get it done. Thank you for your prayers and notes, they keep me encouraged!
