| Dear Praying Friends, |
June 20, 2002 |
A
group of students from Bob Jones University is visiting the seminary
at Urubamba. On Monday, June 18, the group and I got to visit
the ancient Inca ruins of Machu Picchu (Some
Pictures). It was quite an
experience. It is supposedly the 8th wonder of the world.
During the visit, I was able
to witness to a German tourist all the way up one side. Communism is not dead.
He had definitely been brainwashed with Communist dogma. It was sad but I pray
he finds Jesus; God used me to make him think.
My
classes in elementary education at PCC are paying off. While
in Cuzco, I have been helping in the home school tasks of the
Tuttle's eight year old - Josiah. School is going well
for him. He is really bright and it is hard to
challenge him to give 100%. We're working on it and God is
blessing. I have also been helping in the children's classes
at church.
From June 6th to June 10th, we went with the BJU group to the Jungle
and help with a city wide jovenes crusade (Cola war) that saw about 120 respond to the gospel.
God is working! We went to a house church in Quillabama and there in open air and lantern light, I
knew that this is where God wants me. I can't say for sure when, where,
how, with whom, etc, but based on God's current leading I'll probably
end up back in Peru sometime. I already can tell that these 3 months will not be long enough.
God is protecting and providing. I am thankful that surrounded
by mountains I can lift up my eyes to the hills from whence cometh my help.
He preserves my going out and my coming in. He proved this on a hike we took in the
mountains. We practically got lost and ended up coming back 2 hours late
from a different way, but he led us out.
I am thankful that I have a hope to share with the hopeless here in Peru.
God bless you. Keep in touch.
Spreading the light of the glorious Gospel of
Christ,

Rachel Tarvin
