Corpus Cristi Parade
May 28, 2002

These statues weigh tons each, thirty men would stumble under their weight.  This drunken festival shows how these people are not only burdened with sin, they are burdened by the churches requirements to earn their salvation.
As we walked toward the first of the “saints”.   I  pulled my camera out.  I didn’t know it until I went to take a picture but the battery (the only rechargeable battery) had fallen out.  By the time I noticed and told Andy, he said, “It’s gone.” With a city full of pickpockets nothing lasts long at all.  We turned around and saw it in the street.  I ran back to get it.  Praise the Lord.  We said that I had a miracle at Corpus Cristi—God did it.

The idols are weighted with brick and rock (virgin of nativity).  This makes it possible for them to share in the suffering of Christ.
