I am Rachel
Tarvin and I have just finished my Junior year at Pensacola
Christian College, Pensacola, Florida. I am majoring in Missions
with a broad field in Elementary Education. Since my Sophomore year, I
have been given the opportunity to serve as a floor leader in
my
dormitory. I also work in the Sparks Club of the AWANA
program at the Campus Church.
Through my High School Spanish teacher at Eagle Heights Christian
School, God gave
me the opportunity to visit Trujillo, Peru
from January 20-31, 1999, where I ministered in a Summer Camp.
God certainly blessed me during this time where I was able to begin refining my ability to communicate in Spanish.
I learned much seeing missionary activity on the field in Peru. I am grateful to
Mrs. Miller, my teacher, for including
me in her trip.
I graduated from Eagle Heights Christian School, Kansas
City, MO in May, 1999. During the following summer I worked at the
Light House Preschool, a preschool for children with special needs, in
Kansas City. Also, during each summer since graduation, I have served as a counselor at
a Junior Camp (3rd-6th grade) hosted by Antioch Bible Baptist Church as well as
serving as a counselor for the AWANA Scholarship Camp at Raccoon
River Bible Camp near Scranton, Iowa.
I attended
a Boot Camp in AWANA's Missionary In Training (MIT) Program during August
1999 in Upton, CA. I was accepted for service and
assigned to an MIT Team to Dominica (pronounced "Dom-in-eek-a") in July
2000. You can see the details from my home page by clicking on the
"MIT" button. During the Summer of 2001 I
served as an intern in the Children's Ministry of Antioch
Bible Baptist Church, in Gladstone, Missouri.
God has now given me
the opportunity to visit Andy and Debbie Tuttle in Cusco, Peru
during the summer of 2002. See "Trip Details" from
my home page.
